By now, most of you know what an aphrodisiac is, and what it does to you. But for those of you who don't, here's an explanation:
Aphrodisiacs are most commonly foods, but they can also be scents, and images -Even behavoirs!- That increase sexual desire. It's a big topic between scientists, because some believe this is totally in the mind! That you aren't really being turned on, or more likely to be turned on because of the substance, but because of the thought in your mind that you're SUPPOSED to be turned on. The name "aphrodisiac" is derived from the ancient Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite.
Now, on to the aphrodisiacs themselves!
Food
The visuals from the food themselves is a turn on to some people. Now, there are common aphrodisiacs which give most everyone a sexual desire when being eaten, smelled, and/or looked at. Examples:
Dark chocolate
Oysters
Saffron
Spanish Fly
Celery
Strawberries(that's where the common sexiness of chocolate covered strawberries comes from).
Whipped cream
Honey
Bananas
Asparagus
Tomatoes
And alcohol
Now, certain foods do increase testosterone and estrogen levels. Scientists agree on this. The foods above are all known to do this(with the exception of alcohol. Alcohol creates a false aphrodisiac. Small fact! Did you know that drugs, and alcohol contribute to erectile dysfunction? Yep. They do). The real debate between scientists is whether the foods that have no known chemical in them to put a person in the mood actually IS an aphrodisiac.
Many foods, such as bananas, asparagus, carrots, and avocados are considered aphrodisiacs just because they resemble a cock, or testicles. Oysters resemble a pussy, so they get thrown on the list as well. Interestingly enough, oysters and pine nuts are high in zinc. Zinc is necessary for sperm production. If you ejaculate to often, you can cause later problems in life concerning prostate cancer. If you DO ejaculate a lot(scientists say more than twice a week is far too much), then eating a ton of zinc can repair the damage done.
There are several traditional herbs under study for their aphrodisiac properties and tendencies. Three of them are tribulus, maca, and yohimbe. Any combination of these herbs may be put into capsules and sold as a "natural Viagra." DO. NOT. USE. THESE. Too much yohimbe, a bark from a West African evergreen tree, can kill you. I'm guessing that's not the kind of stiffness most guys are after.
Scents
Vanilla
Strawberry
Fruits, in general, really.
Cinnamon.
Crushed rhino horn
The smell of matches(from a lit candle).
Lime
Flowery scents
Coffee
For those of you that don't know what pheremones are a natural chemical in the body. The release of pheremones can involuntarily change behaviors without the subject even being aware of the chemical's release. Tell me, does the smell of your lover's sweat appeal to you? Does the smell of his/hers lotion, or deoderant, or cologne, or perfume appeal to you? Pheremones.
These scents that turn you on may not turn another person on. The smell of A.'s deoderant.... His sweat... His hair... These are things that turn me on, or prepare me to get in the mood. A. loves my coconut lime lotion. Like. A lot. And we both love the smell of this pumpkin spice bubble bath i have. We took a bubble bath with it when i was in town last. SO much fun.
Jasmine is a popular perfume scent that is an aphrodisiac to both men and women. Lavender is often combined with floral oils, cedar wood, ext. Yland ylang increases libido between lovers, and is considered one of the more powerful aphrodisiacs. Ylang ylang is often combined with jasmine bergamot or rose oil. The overwhelming floral scent of neroli is used for flirtation, while patchouli is a relaxing scent.

A tiger penis
A bar of chocolate
Oysters
Most of these are blatantly obvious. A physical aphrodisiac has the tendency of just being something you enjoy to look at, but they're considered it anyway.
Behaviors
Respect
Love
Tenderness
Lusts
Kindness
These are all appealing to pretty much everyone, right? Well, if you were to have a couple sitting in front of you(without them knowing you're there), and they're cuddling, and giving each other sweet kisses, wouldn't you want that from your lover? If they started to become more heated, and make out, and heavy petting, and things that would eventually lead to sex, wouldn't you want that? Do you look for someone who will respect you and love you in relationships? These are considered aphrodisiacs when in reality, it's just human nature.
More later!
